Turtle

Turtle

Gently he fluttered down
Patient he was for my call
Just then, a moment of silence overcame
and in that moment I felt meaning
Yet feared I still the time of its departure
No heed gave he to my lack of faith
A smile was all it took to sooth
A gentle smile, how bold, how pure
Doubt acknowledged defeat
And there I sat with a friend whom I knew
Words too heavy, a bit too trite
Entwined in presence we passed time
Tears drawn to cleanse and to teach
All guile melting replaced by hope, hope
Hiding nothing now I gave myself to him

Humility of heart
Discipline in action
Courage in doubt
Honor of character

Through my eyes he touched my soul
And I could not help but know love
